Dusk over Nanpean in November with the school on the right.

Five Months! That is how long we have been here so far and time has flown. Paul is back up and running so to speak and the work is being tackled and we are getting back on track.

We planted our orchard which consists of the following, 6 Cornish Apples including, Cornish Honey Pinnick, Cornish Aromatic, Bread Fruit, Captain Broad, Tregonny King, and Pigs Nose. All of these are Cornish apples because they are well adapted to the weather down here and they are a mix of eating and cooking apples with a long fruiting season.

Along with those we have 3 Pear trees, another 2 apple trees, 1 Victoria Plum, 2 Cherry trees, 2 Walnut trees, and two Cob Nut trees (Hazelnuts).
These we have planted in the left-field which has been designated our orchard and is taking shape. It is here we shall be putting in a large pond for ducks and wildlife but that is not a priority as yet.

All of the fruit trees are planted in the left-field now known as the orchard. We put them here because it is the most
a sheltered spot in the fields and they have a windbreak of hawthorn and other trees to protect them.

For the time being, we have placed a temporary netting around the new vegetable beds to keep the wind off them as they already have Onions, Garlic, Broad beans, and Peas in them and the nets are to keep out the Rabbits and Wood Pidgeons. Once the main buildings have been put up, Paul will build the wall around the vegetable beds about 4-5 feet high which will house most of our growing areas.

The whole of the vegetable garden will be walled to protect from Bunnies and weather and should grow better crops, quicker and easier than an open field. But for now, we shall install a temporary fence made from galvanised fencing sheets about 4 feet high and covered with builders' netting.
