It has been a hectic few weeks as we thought it was best to renew half of the
Stable Block as there were a good few leaks letting in water at different places. As we need to keep these units dry due to electrical tools, etc, we have now stripped that side of the stable block and renewed both front and back.
I boarded the Northside with OSB Sterling board and then underfelt and top felted which has proven to be a good call. The Southside of the block has been renewed with 16mm triple wall polycarbonate roof which is not only waterproof but lets in much light to both Loraine’s workshop where she will be starting off the plants and to Paul’s workshop where he shall be working on all the jobs that will no doubt be following.
I shall put before and after shots so you can see the difference in our efforts. It remains now to put the shelves up in both units to house all of the tools and garden stuff that we need to use.
We have also moved the cucumbers and the single pepper plant we have into the growing workshop which have responded very well in the few days they have been in. The painting of the stable block has also been underway and is starting to look very good indeed. We also had to re-install the guttering as it was not performing as it should have been, a water butt was also placed by the growing workshop so we can use rainwater for the seedlings, etc.
Renewing the roof was not something we had planned for but it was the best decision to replace the roof on that side of the stable block, we may do the rest of it next year.
More later……………
